Two lustre-rimmed cups — not for the microwave

DKK 295incl. 25% moms

Two 250 ml tea cups with a hand-applied platinum lustre line at the rim, boxed together from the same firing. The lustre is metal, so neither cup can go in a microwave, and neither is dishwasher safe — the lustre dulls under detergent.

Cooling: 95 °C down to 64 °C in ten minutes

31 degrees over ten minutes. Ceramic has no vacuum layer. A thicker wall cools more slowly than a thin one, and that is the whole of the effect — none of these cups keep a drink hot the way a vacuum flask does.

How to use it

Microwave
Not suitable. This cup carries a metallic lustre decoration. It must never go in a microwave: metallic decoration arcs and will damage both the cup and the oven.
Dishwasher
Hand wash. A dishwasher will dull this finish over time.
Temperature
Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not pour boiling water into a cold cup straight from the fridge, and do not move a hot cup into cold water — ceramic can crack from thermal shock.
Variation
Each cup is finished by hand, so dimensions vary by up to ±5% and no two glazes are identical. Variation in colour, glaze pooling and small surface pinholes are characteristics of the process, not faults.

How and where it is made

Not sure this is the one?

Cup Match asks three questions and filters on the measurements rather than on taste. It will tell you which cups have a wall of 8 mm or more, which have a handle opening of 32 mm or more, and which have no handle at all.
