Slightly narrower and taller than the coffee mug of the same volume, so a tea bag has room to move and the string does not fall in. A 78 mm rim keeps the drink concentrated rather than spread flat.

Cooling: 95 °C down to 65 °C in ten minutes

30 degrees over ten minutes. Ceramic has no vacuum layer. A thicker wall cools more slowly than a thin one, and that is the whole of the effect — none of these cups keep a drink hot the way a vacuum flask does.

Measured with 95 °C water in a 20 °C room, uncovered and undisturbed, temperature read at the centre of the liquid after 10 minutes.

How to use it

Microwave: Suitable.
Dishwasher: Suitable. 104 mm tall, 78 mm across — check that against your basket.
Temperature: Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not pour boiling water into a cold cup straight from the fridge, and do not move a hot cup into cold water — ceramic can crack from thermal shock.
Variation: Each cup is finished by hand, so dimensions vary by up to ±5% and no two glazes are identical. Variation in colour, glaze pooling and small surface pinholes are characteristics of the process, not faults.
