A normal 6 mm wall on a 14 mm base, which puts most of the 430 g down at the bottom. It does not stop you knocking it over, but it takes a great deal more of a nudge than a light mug does, and it sits still when a keyboard tray moves.

Cooling: 95 °C down to 67 °C in ten minutes

28 degrees over ten minutes. Ceramic has no vacuum layer. A thicker wall cools more slowly than a thin one, and that is the whole of the effect — none of these cups keep a drink hot the way a vacuum flask does.

Measured with 95 °C water in a 20 °C room, uncovered and undisturbed, temperature read at the centre of the liquid after 10 minutes.

How to use it

Microwave: Suitable.
Dishwasher: Suitable. 102 mm tall, 82 mm across — check that against your basket.
Temperature: Avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not pour boiling water into a cold cup straight from the fridge, and do not move a hot cup into cold water — ceramic can crack from thermal shock.
Variation: Each cup is finished by hand, so dimensions vary by up to ±5% and no two glazes are identical. Variation in colour, glaze pooling and small surface pinholes are characteristics of the process, not faults.
